The key difference in the production of normal sunflower oil and high-oleic sunflower oil HO is the seed used: the high-oleic varieties have been specifically developed for their increased content of monounsaturated fatty acids. Our cultivated high-oleic sunflower seeds are harvested when the backs of the flower heads turn yellow-brown and the leaves begin to wilt. After harvesting, we subject the seeds to a careful cleaning and drying process to ensure the optimum moisture content. The shells are then separated from the kernels in the dehulling process.
The oleic acid-rich kernels are then crushed and subjected to a conditioning process that heats them to improve oil extraction efficiency. The oil is extracted using mechanical pressure at low temperatures and undergoes a thorough refining process. After filtration, the oil is purified several times to achieve the highest quality and purity standards. Final laboratory analyses in Leonberg ensure that our refined high-oleic sunflower oil meets our strict quality and purity criteria. Thanks to a diversified and stable supply chain, we can ensure a reliable supply even in the event of climatic uncertainties.
