The difference between the production of our Organic Sunflower Oil and High-Oleic Organic Sunflower Oil HO lies in the seed: High-Oleic sunflowers are specially bred for their high content of monounsaturated fatty acids. Our organically grown high-oleic sunflower seeds are harvested when the back of the flower heads have turned yellow to brown and the leaves are beginning to wilt. After harvesting, the sunflower seeds are cleaned and dried to achieve the optimum moisture content for further processing. The kernels are then hulled, separating the shells from the kernels. The sunflower seeds are then crushed and passed through a conditioning process that heats the seeds and optimizes their consistency for oil extraction.

The oil is extracted from the seeds by mechanical pressure, maintaining low temperatures to ensure the quality of the cold-pressed oil. The extracted crude oil is filtered to remove natural impurities, resulting in a native high-oleic organic sunflower oil, prized for its high monounsaturated fatty acid content.

The quality assurance of our high-oleic sunflower oil is carried out according to a carefully developed test plan in our own DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 certified laboratory. To ensure the accuracy and reliability of the test results, we supplement internal analyses with external laboratory tests as required. The entire production process follows strict ecological and social guidelines, which not only ensure the quality of our product, but also promote environmental protection.

Usage

  • Cosmetics

    • Similar to normal sunflower oil, but with improved stability, high-oleic sunflower oil is an excellent carrier oil
    • Due to its high monounsaturated fatty acid content, high-oleic sunflower oil intensively moisturises the skin, making it ideal for the formulation of creams and lotions that care for dry and stressed skin
    • The high oxidation stability extends the shelf life of cosmetic products by reducing the oxidation of other sensitive ingredients

    • Its high smoke point makes it ideal for frying, roasting and baking
    • The oxidation stability of high-oleic oil improves the shelf life of packaged foods and snacks by slowing down the process of rancidity
    • The high monounsaturated fatty acid content can help lower cholesterol and thus support heart health
    • Its mild, neutral flavour and stability make it an ideal base for salad dressings and mayonnaises
    • The stability and neutral taste of high oleic sunflower oil make it an ideal carrier for infusing with herbs and spices to create flavoured oils
