Depending on the weather conditions, linseed is harvested in late summer or at the beginning of fall using combine harvesters. Around 3 kg of linseed is needed to produce one liter of virgin linseed oil, which corresponds to a cultivation area of around 30 m². The next step is to clean the harvest and remove impurities such as sand, straw and stones. This is followed by gentle drying so as not to damage the fatty acids. Once at the oil mill, the linseed oil is mechanically pressed from the seeds and subjected to a decanting and filtering process to remove natural suspended matter and particles. In Germany, we subject our linseed oil to final laboratory analyses to ensure that it meets our strict quality and purity standards.
Our virgin linseed oil complies with European Pharmacopoeia standards and is monitored through a precise control plan that ensures consistent quality. Thanks to a strong and diversified supply chain that utilizes different seed suppliers and production locations, we ensure a reliable supply even in the event of potential climatic fluctuations.
