Our refined macadamia nut oil originates from the cultivation areas of Africa. When the macadamias have reached full maturity, the green outer shell dries up and separates from the branches, after which the nuts fall to the ground over a period of weeks. As the nuts lose quality and attract pests if they lie on the ground for too long, they are regularly collected by sweepers. In addition, individual nuts left on the ground are picked up by hand.
In the oil mill, the kernels are first subjected to a conditioning process to prepare them optimally for pressing. During the mechanical pressing process, raw macadamia nut oil is extracted and a protein-rich press cake is produced as a by-product, which is used either as a food additive or animal feed. Natural particles and suspended matter are removed by decanting and multiple filtering before and after the refining process. The final product is refined macadamia nut oil, which is highly valued for its fatty acid composition and wide range of applications in the cosmetics, food and pharmaceutical industries.
