Production & description

Earlier methods of glycerol production have been replaced by the cost-effective method of obtaining glycerol as a by-product of biodiesel production. This is done through the transesterification of triglycerides. In this process, triglycerides are catalytically treated with methanol to produce methyl ester and glycerol. A purified glycerol with a purity of 99% is then produced from the raw glycerol.

Glycerol itself is a clear, colorless to slightly yellowish, syrupy liquid. It feels greasy, attracts moisture (hygroscopic) and has a sweet taste.

Organic glycerol 99% vegetable

Gustav Heess

Our organic glycerol is obtained exclusively from organic linseed or rapeseed oil as a by-product of biodiesel production. These oils, grown under organic conditions, are processed by transesterification, whereby glycerol is separated during the production process. After separation, the glycerol is purified to obtain a pure product that is used in the food, cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries. This process supports sustainable agricultural practices and promotes the local economy.

The entire production process is based on compliance with environmental and social standards to ensure the high quality of the product and the health of the ecosystem.

Usage

  • Cosmetics

    • Used as a moisturizer, as it is able to bind water molecules, transport them into the skin and store them there. This makes the skin supple and prevents it from drying out
    • Particularly suitable for hand and facial care products
    • Ointment base
    • Glycerol is added to cleansing products such as shower gel, cleansing milk or shampoo, as glycerol penetrates deeper into the stratum corneum and is not so easy to wash off
  • Food

    • Sweetening of beverages
    • Humectants for tobacco
    • Moisturizing of foods such as chewing gum or pasta
    • As a food additive, it bears the abbreviation E 422
  • Pharmaceutics

    • Consistency agent, solvent, moisturizer, adjuvant and ointment
    • Glycerol cannot be administered parenterally or intravenously as this leads to the dissolution of red blood cells
