Castor oil virgin low acid value Ph. Eur.

Gustav Heess

Six months after sowing, the harvest of our virgin castor oil begins, which is initiated by the browning and bursting of the pods. Due to the toxicity of the castor seeds, we harvest the ripe pods using mechanical equipment to prevent skin contact and inhalation of dust particles. After harvesting, we dry the pods, which makes it easier to extract the seeds. These seeds are then shelled and cold-pressed using a hydraulic press to gently extract the high-quality oil. The extracted oil is then passed through a filtration process that removes natural suspended solids and toxic ricin.

Minimized storage time, efficient purification and refining processes and control of oxidation during the extraction process minimize the acidity of the oil. The low acid number indicates that the oil is less oxidized and therefore fresher and of higher quality, which is particularly important for applications where purity and stability of the oil are critical. A low value also indicates that the oil is more suitable for longer storage as it is more resistant to rancidity.

A long-term partnership is essential to ensure consistently high quality and reliable deliveries. Our established supply chain offers our producers lasting security, allowing them to concentrate fully on improving quality. Our native castor oil with a low acid number always complies with the current edition of the European Pharmacopoeia (Ph. Eur.).
